Webinar Series “Richtung Osten: Old Matters, New Chances, Different Perspectives”

December 2020 – May 2021

As the year of the 30th anniversary of the German unification draws to an end, this webinar series wants to keep the discussion alive and steer it into new directions: We aim to rethink the socialist legacy as transnationally located memories and experiences of a younger generation of East Germans. Over the next months, we will talk with writers, filmmakers, scholars, and teachers about social and cultural connections between East Germany and other countries and how they influence current memory debates.

Organized by Centre College, The University of Melbourne, and Carleton College
